A region of injured tissue or skin in which blood capillaries have been ruptured; a bruise.

A fracture is a break, usually in a bone. If the broken bone punctures the skin, it is called an open or compound fracture. Fractures commonly happen because of car accidents, falls, or sports injuries. Other causes are low bone density and osteoporosis, which cause weakening of the bones.

Physiotherapy Assistants work with Physiotherapists and are required to be responsible for providing patient care and encouraging patients to complete specific treatment plans related to injury, illness or disability-related physical issues.
Example: Physiotherapist assistants (PTAs) in Ontario work under the direction of a physiotherapist in the provision of physiotherapy services.

A forecast of the likely course of a disease or ailment.
Example: It is possible to manage the majority of episodes of acute respiratory failure with mechanical ventilation administered with non-invasive techniques, however the use of endotracheal intubation usually results in a poor prognosis i.e. one year survival rate is usually lower than 40%.

A record of information about a person's health. A personal medical history may include information about allergies, illnesses, surgeries, immunizations, and results of physical exams and tests. It may also include information about medicines taken and health habits, such as diet and exercise.
Example: Your family medical history, sometimes called a medical family tree, is a record of illnesses and medical conditions affecting your family members.
